As part of Gippsland Water’s commitment to improving community consultation, three community consultative groups are now in operation. These committees provide a mechanism for the organisation to seek and receive feedback on issues impacting on our customers and the environment.
Membership is drawn from local councils, stakeholders, and other interested parties.
DUTSON DOWNS ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Objectives of committee
- To enhance Gippsland Water’s responsiveness to the concerns of the community by providing an opportunity for community advice.
- To provide feedback to Gippsland Water on the planning and scoping of potential projects that may be undertaken with a view to improve the environmental performance of the Dutson Downs property as a whole.
- To provide advice to Gippsland Water regarding methods of promoting a greater understanding in the community as to the processes involved in the provision of resource recovery processes.
- To assist Gippsland Water to monitor the performance of the Dutson Downs Resource Recovery Facility against the performance criteria developed in the statutory planning process.
- To assist Gippsland Water and participate in the development of an Environment Improvement Plan for the Dutson Downs Resource Recovery Facility.
ENVIRONMENT AND CUSTOMER CONSULTATIVE COMMITTEE
Objectives of Committee
- To provide a representative consultative forum for Gippsland Water to liaise with the community within the Gippsland Water operational region.
- To provide an avenue for consultation and exchange between Gippsland Water and the community.
- To enhance Gippsland Water's responsiveness to the needs of its customers, the community and the environment.
- To provide advice to the Gippsland Water Board on policies and strategies for improving environmental performance and the provision of water and wastewater services.
- To provide feedback on community concerns, expectations and needs concerning the type, quality and cost of services provided and environmental issues relative to Gippsland Water's operations.
- To provide feedback and interpretation of focus group outcomes to Gippsland Water.
- To assist with the development of strategies to address specific issues.
- To involve and assist customers and the community in policy development processes.
COASTAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Objectives of Committee
- To provide a forum for Gippsland Water to consult with community on environmental issues pertaining to the authority's operation of the Delray Beach and SWOP Ocean Outfalls and associated treatment and transfer systems.
- To enhance Gippsland Water's responsiveness to the concerns of the community by providing an opportunity for community input.
- To provide advice to Gippsland Water as to methods of promoting a greater understanding in the community as to the processes involved in the provision of water and wastewater services.
- To assist Gippsland Water in communicating effectively to the community the timing and reason for works taking place in their town/region.
