Security emergencies
Gippsland Water seeks your assistance in notifying us of any unusual events that may occur on or around our sites. This has a dual purpose of notifying us if something is wrong with our plant and equipment and also is someone is damaging, trespassing or otherwise trying to harm our property.
What to look for
- Any activity after normal working hours. If there are no Gippsland Water marked vehicles at the site, then the activity may not be authorised. eg. We do not accept deliveries after hours, so a delivery vehicle would be out of place at night or on the weekend.
- Anyone trying to gain entry to the site who does not appear to be in a Gippsland Water vehicle. eg. A site that is not normally manned has an unmarked vehicle parked outside. A person trying to scale a fence to gain entry to our site.
- People taking photographs of our site. Most of our sites have very little photographic interest to the public, so anyone taking photos would be unusual.
- People repeatedly driving slowly past our site and giving it abnormal attention.
- People dumping rubbish on or adjacent to our site.
- Any unusual odours, smoke or other activity.
What to do
- Take note of any vehicle registration number if possible.
