Saving Water for Businesses

Living Victoria Water Rebate Program

This program was introduced on 19 July. It allows small businesses with 20 full time equivalent employees or less to claim rebates on a number of products. The business must use mains water supply to be eligible. The program will run until 30 June 2013.

There is a list of approved products, and the rebate is 50% of the spend up to a maximum of $2000, including installation.

Water Management Action Plan (waterMAP)

Our high water users need to put together a water management plan to help them increase the efficiency of their water use.

The water management action plan (waterMAP) program was developed by the State Government. Industrial and commercial businesses who use more than 10 million litres of treated water each year need to submit a waterMAP.

The program identifies how a customer currently uses its water, opportunities for saving water on site, actions to implement water conservation measures, and costs to implement those actions.

WaterMAP customers need to provide an update of their progress each financial year by 31 August.  New customers must submit their registration form within one month from receiving water from us.

The program has been introduced as part of the Permanent Water Saving Plan, which means penalties such as fines and restriction of water supply may be imposed for those who do not register for the program and develop a waterMAP.

The waterMAP program at Gippsland Water is currently under review, we will be providing new information on changes to the program over the coming months.

The waterMAP's for the 2010-2011 financial year are still due on 31 December 2011.

If you would like to discuss the changes further please contact Customer Relations Support Officer - Tarlee Jones on 1800 066 401.

Environment and Resource Efficiency Plan (EREP)

EPA Victoria (Environment Protection Authority) has developed the Environment and Resource Efficiency Plan. This program supports investigations or feasibility studies focused on reducing the use of drinking water and energy in industrial processes.

Registrations for participating in the EREP program are now open. See the poster below to see if your business is required to take part in the program.

The business opportunities presented through EPA projects will assist your company to achieve environmental benefits and direct cost savings in a short time frame.
