Health Care Cards, Pension Concession Cards and DVA Gold Repatriation Cards (except dependants)
If you hold a current Health Care Card, Pension Card or DVA Gold Repatriation Card (except dependants), you are entitled to concessions on your water account for water consumption, and service charges if they apply.
If you are responsible for your water account, you can claim up to:
-
50% off water and wastewater (sewerage) costs up to a maximum of $189.70 per annum; or
-
if a household is billed for only one water or wastewater service and or usage, the concession is capped at $94.85 per annum.
Your eligible rebate will be adjusted on a four-monthly basis (each billing cycle) where usage concession is calculated on the daily average of the billing period.
To claim your concession, please present your valid Health Care Card, Pension Concession Card or a DVA Gold Repatriation Card (except dependants) when making payment at any post office Australia wide. Alternatively, you may wish to contact our Customer Service Centre on 1800 050 500 to claim your rebate.
How the concession value is calculated
If you are a tenant, as of 1 July 2008, you can claim up to 50% off water usage charges up to approximately $31.62 or $94.85 per annum.
For example, if your water account was $20, with a Pension Card Concession the amount payable would be $10. If your water usage account was $90, the rebate received would be the maximum of approximately $31.62.
If you are a home owner and the holder of an eligible concession card, you are entitled to receive a 50% concession rebate for the water and wastewater service charges to a maximum of up to approximately $63.23 per bill or $189.70 per annum.
To receive the water and wastewater concessions:
-
you must be responsible for the account;
-
the property must be used for residential purposes only;
-
the property must be your principal place of residence; and
-
the name and address on the card must be the same as the name and the installation address on the account.
Tenants and home owners wishing to claim their pension can simply contact one of our Service Agents on 1800 050 500 or print and complete the pension application form and mail or fax it with a copy of their pension card to PO Box 348, Traralgon, Victoria 3844, or fax on (03) 5174 0103.

Not-for-profit water and sewerage service rebate for charity organisations
As part of a Financial Reform Package for the Victorian water industry, the government is financing a rebate of up to $260 a year on the fixed water and wastewater service charges of eligible organisations.
Who is eligible?
A rebate is available for not-for-profit organisations throughout Victoria, which serve the community in the fields of:
-
education;
-
hospitals or nursing care;
-
religious worship;
-
charity;
-
outdoor sporting or recreation activities; and
-
war veterans organisations
A rebate will be allowed to eligible organisations for individual properties, provided the predominant activity at the property falls within one of these categories. This will apply whether the organisation owns the property or not. Rebates may also be available to individuals provided they are the owners of the property used predominantly by an eligible organisation.
A not-for-profit organisation is one which applies its profits in promoting its objectives, and prohibits the payment of dividend or amount to its members. An organisation must have a wind up clause which states that in the event of being wound up, the assets will be passed on to another eligible organisation and cannot be distributed to members of either organisation.
