Warragul Linen Service staff take part in showerhead exchange

Gippsland Water has exchanged 30 water efficient showerheads with Warragul Linen Service employees as part of Gippsland Water's free showerhead exchange program.

The showerhead exchange program invites eligible customers to swap their old showerhead for a new three-star water saving showerhead at no cost.

Warragul Linen Service employs 190 staff and is one of the largest suppliers of linen to the Victorian health care market, with clients such as the Alfred Hospital, the Monash Medical Centre, and the Dandenong Hospital.

Warragul Linen Service general manager Bill Crotty said the company appreciates the showerheads from Gippsland Water and adds that the showerhead exchange is a great way for their staff to get involved and engages them to think about water conservation at home.

"Warragul Linen Service has undertaken extensive water management measures and involvement in this initiative allows our staff to also support water reduction goals," Mr Crotty said.

Gippsland Water managing director David Mawer said that Warragul Linen Service has shown its commitment to educating its staff about water conservation by encouraging them to take part in the showerhead exchange program.

"Gippsland Water has exchanged more than 1,600 showerheads to customers across the region since the program was implemented in November 2006," Mr Mawer said.

"Customers who have received the water saving showerheads have the potential to save up to 20,000 litres of water per year."

The showerhead exchange program is part of a $6.5 million Victorian Government initiative to distribute the showerheads through a range of programs.

Gippsland Water will also exchange 100 showerheads with staff at Latrobe Regional Hospital as part of its Green Day event in mid August.
