A well-established Traralgon motel and convention centre has saved more than two million litres of water in just four months after implementing water conservation measures across its site. With assistance from Gippsland Water, Century Inn has adopted a number of water saving initiatives including installing flow control valves in bathroom and kitchen taps, dual flush toilets, and water efficient showerheads.

Gippsland Water has begun commissioning its new $2.2 million desludging facility at the Warragul Water Treatment Plant marking the first time the water corporation has used a centrifuge system at one of its treatment plants. This new system will collect waste in the water treatment process and thicken it prior to transporting it to Gippsland Water's Soil and Organic Recycling Facility at Dutson Downs.

A renowned water industry expert from the USA has recently shared his expertise with Gippsland Water about new and innovative ways to collect, treat and reuse wastewater. Dr George Tchobanoglous, a professor from the University of California and a recognised world expert on water and wastewater systems, has visited Australia by invitation of the Environment Protection Authority.

Gippsland Water is undertaking an investigation into the Neerim South wastewater network following what is believed to be a series of illegal discharges into the town's sewer system. All water wise Gippslanders are invited to a fun-filled community day to be held at Victory Park in Traralgon on Saturday 18 October to celebrate National Water Week. This year's celebrations feature free showbags, a jumping castle, face painting, and a barbeque, plus colourful and interactive displays showcasing Gippsland Water and the Gippsland Water Factory.
