Water Management Action Plan (waterMAP)

Gippsland Water's top water users will now be required to use less water by developing and implementing a water management plan.

Under a new Victorian Government initiative, industrial and commercial businesses within Gippsland who use more than 10 million litres of treated water per annum have been required to submit a Water Management Action Plan (waterMAP) by December 2007.

The waterMAP program identifies how a customer currently uses its water, opportunities for saving water on site, actions to implement water conservation measures, and costs to implement those actions.

WaterMAP customers will need to provide an update of their progress each year.  New customers must submit their registration form within one month from receiving water from Gippsland Water.

The program has been introduced as part of the Permanent Water Saving Rules, which means penalties such as fines and restriction of water supply may be imposed for those who do not register for the program and develop a waterMAP.
