A Disconnection of Services Notice needs to be submitted two working days before starting any disconnection work. You can use the same form to advise of water and wastewater disconnections.
Disconnection of water meters
Normally, only we can remove water meters. Removing a water meter without prior consent is an offence under the Water Act 1989. Water service tappings/tees must be capped or removed from the water main by our contractor.
- Full works by us. This includes excavation, disconnection and reinstating the site. Extra costs apply if the service is under a road, concrete, etc.
- We only remove the meter and disconnect the main. A licensed plumber completes the other works.
Disconnection of wastewater service
A Plumbing Industry Commission (PIC) consent number needs to be issued to the plumber completing the work.
The consent number is issued after the notice to disconnect form and disconnection fee is received. The plumber must then submit an ‘as laid’ drawing to us confirming the disconnection.
Please be aware that failure to complete the above notice will result in the property owner continuing to be charged for connected services.
