Target your water use with Permanent Water Saving Rules
Gippsland Water would like to remind customers to target their water use by following the Permanent Water Saving Rules, which currently apply.
Permanent Water Saving Rules reminds customers to adopt water saving habits around the home, which are in place at all times, unless water restrictions are introduced. The four main rules that apply are:
- Always use a trigger nozzle on your garden hose.
- You can wash your car or water your garden or lawn with a hose fitted with a trigger nozzle at any time.
- You can only use automatic or manual watering systems from 6pm to 10am daily.
- You can’t hose paved areas unless for health and safety reasons.
“Permanent Water Saving Rules are simple things that everyone can do to make sure they are not wasting water,” said Paul Clark, Gippsland Water General Manager Customer Service and Communications.
“With consecutive hot weather forecast over coming days, the rules go hand-in-hand with the Victorian government’s new voluntary water efficiency program Target Your Water Use which also encourages customers to use their water wisely,” Mr Clark continued.
Under the program, Victorian water customers are encouraged to contact Gippsland Water to learn more about solutions and products on offer that assist in using water more efficiently.
“While our water storages are currently almost at full capacity, it is not a time for us to be complacent; it is a timely reminder to be wary of our water usage habits and to recognise efficiency measures are needed to help meet all our needs now and into the future.”
