Sewer works progressing in Traralgon's west end
Gippsland Water says that while rain delays have caused a setback to the construction works on Grubb Avenue in Traralgon, it is working hard to make up for lost time.
“Gippsland Water appreciates the works have been an inconvenience for people and we are working hard to have the Grubb Ave section opened within the next few weeks depending on the weather,” said Paul Clark, General Manager Customer Service and Communications at Gippsland Water.
“Weather conditions have mostly been favourable for digging and drilling, yet the past few days of rain have set us back a little and there have been other challenges during construction.”
Gippsland Water has worked closely with Latrobe City Council and Lavalla Catholic College over the past month, and back-to-school parents and students have been extremely considerate of traffic management plans and diversions.
"We are looking towards a date of mid-March to have the road re-open for traffic. And of course, we'll continue to work diligently to keep people informed as much as possible," concluded Mr Clark.
The new sewer main will add vital capacity to Traralgon's sewer network, and while Grubb Ave is expected to re-open in the next few weeks, the installation of pipes and construction works in the west end of town will continue until mid-2017.
