Warragul water main upgrade

Gippsland Water is upgrading the main water supply line for Warragul to minimise the impact on customers during disruptions.

“In Warragul more than 50 customers, mostly businesses in the CBD, are connected to the main water supply pipe rather than a reticulated system,” said Chris Wood acting manager of Operations at Gippsland Water.

“This means that there is no buffer for customer if there is an unplanned disruption to the water main,” Mr Wood said.

“The upgrade will improve the ability to drain and refill the main thus reducing the time it takes to carry out repairs.

During the works all interruptions to water supply will be kept to a minimum and customers will be notified when water supply may be impacted.

Gippsland Water contractors will undertake some of the works at night in an effort to minimise the impact on business in the busy CBD.

The project is expected to take 10 weeks to completed and is dependent on a number of factors including the weather.
