Planned maintenance at Buckley’s Hill
Work will begin on April 18 to replace a pipe and add rock to the northern walls of the reservoir.
Gippsland Water’s General Manager, Customer Service and Communications, Paul Clark, said the works would help to maintain the facility which was built in the 1960s.
"This is part of our regular program of monitoring and maintenance which will extend the life of the facility. We completed stage one of this project in 2015, and the second stage should be finished by the end of June this year," he said.
Mr Clark added that while traffic disruption would be kept to a minimum, local residents could expect to see multiple trucks bringing rock to the site.
"We have written to the residents to let them know about the works, the majority of which will be conducted during business hours," he said.
The Buckley’s Hill Reservoir is a key piece of infrastructure which plays an important role in supplying water to Morwell, Boolarra, Churchill, Yinnar, Yinnar South, Jumbuk, Jeeralang, Traralgon South, Hazelwood North, Hazelwood South and the local power industry.
