Mind your meter
Gippsland Water is reminding customers to check the location of their water meter before starting up their lawn mowers this spring.
The water authority has received several calls from customers who have inadvertently damaged their meter while cutting long grass.
Damaged meters usually require repair by a Gippsland Water field crew, which can lead to additional costs for the customer.
General Manager Customer and Community Paul Clark said that parts of Gippsland had experienced a burst of spring growth which could quickly disguise water meters.
“We’re asking customers to take a moment to check their water meter before starting work in the yard, and even consider clearing a space around it.
“It’s a simple step that could save you time and money,” he said.
Customers who are unsure of where their water meter is can call 1800 050 500 for more information.
