Pipe replacement works at Maffra
Gippsland Water will be installing new pipes at Maffra’s McAdam Street water storage tanks over the next ten days.
Gippsland Water General Manager Customer Service and Communication Paul Clark said that customers in Maffra, Stratford and Boisdale should not notice any difference to their water supply.
“We have a range of contingencies in place to ensure that we can continue to supply Maffra, Stratford and Boisdale with water while the maintenance works are underway, but we are asking customers to be extra vigilant about reporting leaks,” he said.
“Gippsland Water has skilled staff who live in the area, and they’ll be on-call 24 hours a day while this work is completed so we’ll be able to respond really quickly should any problems arise,” he added.
One of the two large water storage tanks will be out of service while the new pipework is connected, temporarily reducing the level of treated water in reserve to supply Maffra, Stratford and Boisdale.
This is the first stage of several replacement activities Gippsland Water will be conducting at the McAdam Street site in the next few months.
Customers can help to keep the region’s water reserves stable by advising Gippsland Water straight away if they notice any leaks from water mains in the area.
