Water works at Maffra
Gippsland Water will begin the final stage of a project to replace the liner of a water storage tank at McAdam Street in Maffra from early November.
The 7.9ML tank will be out of service while the replacement works are underway, temporarily reducing the level of treated water in reserve to supply Maffra, Stratford and Boisdale.
Gippsland Water General Manager Customer and Communication Paul Clark said that customers in Maffra, Stratford and Boisdale should not notice any difference to their water supply.
“We have a range of contingencies in place to ensure that we can continue to supply Maffra, Stratford and Boisdale with water while the replacement works are underway, but we are asking customers to be extra vigilant about reporting leaks,” he said.
“Maffra residents may notice some additional noise and activity around the tanks while we complete this important project,” he added.
This is the final stage of several replacement activities Gippsland Water has been conducting at the McAdam Street site. The work is likely to be complete by the end of December.
Customers can help to keep the region’s water reserves stable by advising Gippsland Water straight away if they notice any leaks from water mains in the area.
