Maffra water tank back in service

Gippsland Water has completed replacement works at the McAdam Street water tanks in Maffra.

A new liner, improved drainage, and new pipes were installed at the storage facility, which is a key piece of infrastructure for Maffra, Stratford and Boisdale.

Gippsland Water’s General Manager Customer and Community Paul Clark thanked the community for their vigilance while the project was completed.

"We asked our customers to keep watch for any water leaks or bursts and we were very happy with the support we received.

"The project progressed smoothly – on time, within budget and with no safety or environmental incidents. We were able to significantly improve the resilience of this asset, which will have benefits for our customers for many years to come.

"The contingencies that we put in place meant that there were no disruptions to the local water supply as a result of the tank being offline.

"The tank is now back at full capacity, just in time for Christmas and the summer holiday period," he said.
