Supporting young Gippslanders
Nine university students have recently completed a 12 week placement at Gippsland Water, highlighting the water corporation’s commitment to local jobs, youth development and employment in the region.
General Manager Customer and Community Paul Clark said Gippsland Water is committed to developing the skills of young locals.
"The three month program allows students to gain valuable on-the-job experience and knowledge in their area of study," he said.
"Since 2009, one in five of our vacation students have gone on to either
temporary or long term positions with Gippsland Water.
"We also support young Gippslanders to develop vital career skills through the Federation University Industry Placement Program.
"Gippsland Water currently has three trainees in different parts of our organisation including one Aboriginal trainee Haylee Paterson, who is completing a Certificate III in Business Administration.
"We’re especially proud to offer these opportunities locally. Getting your first job is so important. I hope these young people can use this opportunity to launch exciting and rewarding careers," Mr Clark concluded.
The next round of student placement positions will be advertised in August.
