Learn more about Drouin wastewater treatment plant upgrade
Gippsland Water is offering locals the opportunity to find out more about the Drouin wastewater treatment plant upgrade this month.
Managing Director Sarah Cumming said that project team is meeting with nearby residents, and will be hosting a drop-in information session over the next couple of weeks.
“We’ve recently reached out to neighbouring property owners, inviting them to get in touch with our project team if they have any questions or need further information on the project.
“We’ll also be holding a drop-in information session at the Drouin CWA Kiosk on Saturday 16 February, from 9.00am to 12.00pm.”
The project has been submitted to the Environmental Protection Authority for a works approval, and is scheduled to commence in the coming months with preparatory works at the Settlement Road site.
Ms Cumming said the upgrade will result in cleaner wastewater, better protection of public health and the ability to recycle more wastewater for irrigation.
“This investment of over $30 million is essential to support the ongoing development and liveability of our region,” Ms Cumming said.
The Drouin wastewater treatment plant is a key part of Gippsland Water’s $1 billion infrastructure network, which includes over 1700 kilometres of sewer mains and 14 wastewater treatment plants.
