Our population is growing and changing. All of the local government areas across our service area are forecast to experience population and dwellings growth.
The Victorian Government’s Victoria
in Future forecasts suggest that between now and 2036, population will grow
by an annual average rate of 2.1% in Baw Baw Shire and 0.6% in Latrobe City and
Wellington Shire.
It’s forecast that by 2036 there’ll be a 50% increase in
dwellings in Warragul and Drouin, a 20% increase in Traralgon and 15% increase
in Sale.
Growth in population and dwellings increases the demand for water and sewerage services.
Gippsland Water supplies fresh clean drinking water to more than 70,000 customers, and wastewater services to more than 63,000 customers across an area of more than 5,000 square kilometres. It maintains a $1 billion infrastructure network, which includes more than 2,000 kilometres of water mains, 15 water treatment plants, over 1,700 kilometres of sewer mains and 14 wastewater treatment plants.
