Emergencies and your water supply

Your local water corporation works through the year to bring you safe, reliable water supply and manage sewerage systems safely and in an environmentally sensitive way.

Gippsland Water is ready to continue that service in times of extreme heat, fire or flood.

However, it’s important to remember, that despite all the preparatory work water corporations do, they cannot guarantee their ability to maintain water pressure, an un-interrupted water supply or fully operational sewerage systems in times of emergency.

This page is designed to provide you with some simple things you can do to prepare yourself should our systems go down during a heatwave, a fire or a flood.

About Us

Gippsland Water supplies fresh clean drinking water to more than 70,000 customers, and wastewater services to more than 63,000 customers across an area of more than 5,000 square kilometres. It maintains a $1 billion infrastructure network, which includes more than 2,000 kilometres of water mains, 15 water treatment plants, over 1,700 kilometres of sewer mains and 14 wastewater treatment plants.
