We’re constructing a ground mounted solar
array at the Gippsland Water Factory in 2022.
The project will help reduce our power
costs by providing cheap and clean electricity generation, and contribute
significantly to reaching our target of being powered by 100% renewable energy by 2025, and reaching net zero carbon emissions by 2030. The 1,280 kilowatt system at its peak capacity it will be able to
completely power the water factory. During peak power demand, a supporting
diesel generator will also operate.
Our treatment and pumping facilities are a major consumer of electricity. Our emissions reduction pledge requires us to achieve renewable generation targets and CO2 savings. This new solar array at the Gippsland Water Factory will contribute 45% of these savings, providing considerable environmental and economic benefits.
We are installing a ground mounted
photovoltaic solar array at our Gippsland Water Factory. This renewable
generation project will provide environmental and financial savings and cover
approximately 45% of our CO2 emissions
reduction pledge.
