Gippsland Water highlights progress in latest Community Report
Gippsland Water has released its 2026 Community Report, highlighting the delivered initiatives and projects across the last 12 months against the 2023-28 Price Submission.
Managing director Sarah Cumming said the organisation remains on track with the delivery of its commitments and promises.
“Over the past year, construction has progressed on several major projects, including the 50ML Clarkes Road basin, Traralgon Western Distribution Main, and Warragul wastewater treatment plant upgrade,” Ms Cumming said.
“These important projects are part of our long-term plans to support the resilience of our systems as our region continues to grow and face the impacts of climate change well into the future.
“We achieved our 100 per cent renewable energy target, with the purchase of green energy and generation of solar, biogas and hydroelectric energy. This work is further bolstered by additional tree plantings and our ongoing transition to low and zero-emission vehicles.
"We also established our Community Emergency Support Team, to provide on-the-ground expertise and support during emergency events and customers can now receive SMS notifications for planned sewer works.”
Ms Cumming said the organisation also engaged with the community to help inform the development of the organisation’s 2028-2033 Price Submission.
“Our Price Submission and Urban Water Strategy are two important documents to help plan for the future including customer tariffs, future investments and the security of water and sewer system capacity,” Ms Cumming said.
“We worked really hard to increase the membership of our Sounding Board, which grew by 91 per cent to more than 800 people, meaning one in every 125 customers can share their views directly with the organisation.
The Sounding Board is an opt-in group of community members that can take part in engagement activities and provide feedback on Gippsland Water’s services.
Ms Cumming said customers can provide feedback to help shape the organisation’s priorities over the next 12 months and ensure it remains accountable.
“We would like to hear from our customers to know what we’ve done well and what they want to see more of, to make sure we’re delivering what’s important to the region,” Ms Cumming said.
This year’s report also provides a mid-point progress update on our commitments made in on 2023-2028 Price Submission.
