Keeping ahead of development in the fast growing town of Drouin is one of our major goals in west Gippsland.
To ensure the town will have a good water supply well into the future, we’ll extend the Drouin water system by constructing a new main in the north-west growth corridor.
The new main will run along Princes Way from Hearn Street Drouin towards and down Wellwood Road to the intersection with Longwarry Road.
The new main will ensure we can meet the increased demand for water as the town grows.
The larger water main we’re installing also ensures customers at the highest points of the town maintain good water pressure.
Construction is expected to begin in 2026-27 and be complete mid-2027.

- Resolve water pressure issues for customers in the higher points of the town.
Environment and cultural heritage
As the new main runs through potentially significant areas, we’ll need to complete cultural heritage assessments and develop a Cultural Heritage Management Plan for construction.
We’ll also need to complete environmental assessments and targeted studies for the Warragul Burrowing Crayfish.
