Portable system helps keep drinking water safe and reliable
Gippsland Water has introduced a mobile disinfection unit that will help deliver safer, more reliable drinking water for customers.
The trailer-mounted unit can be quickly moved between sites, allowing crews to disinfect water tanks and other assets faster when new or upgraded infrastructure comes online.
General manager operations Chris Wood said the new unit improves response times and reduces disruption for customers.
“This portable system means we can get water services up and running more quickly after upgrades or maintenance,” Mr Wood said.
“That helps maintain a safe, consistent water supply for our customers and reduces downtime across our network.”
The unit removes the need to duplicate equipment at multiple locations and supports faster, more efficient operations across the region.
Disinfection is a critical step in ensuring Gippsland’s drinking water meets strict health standards and is safe to supply to homes and businesses.
The mobile unit will also strengthen Gippsland Water’s emergency response capability, providing a flexible option to manage unexpected events or incidents.
