Traralgon South Primary School's Isobel won the Year 1-2 competition with her artwork.

Four young, local artists have been recognised in Gippsland Water’s 2026 National Water Week poster competition for creatively sharing the importance of saving water.

Hundreds of students from Foundation to Year 6 entered the competition, creating posters inspired by this year’s theme water heroes: make every drop count.

Managing director Sarah Cumming said the entries showed how young people could play a role to inspire the community to reduce their use.

“Students across the region creatively brought the message to life, showing a strong understanding of why every drop matters,” Ms Cumming said.

“Their posters act as an important reminder and learning opportunity to be mindful of water use and help preserve this precious resource.

“I’d like to thank all participating students and congratulate the winners for their wonderful designs.”

The 2026 winners were:

  • Foundation: Penelope from Mirboo North Primary School
  • Year 1-2: Isobel from Traralgon South Primary School
  • Year 3-4: Violet from Traralgon South Primary School
  • Year 5-6: Bonnie from Stockdale Road Primary School, Traralgon

Penelope also placed third in the state-wide competition among Foundation students.

Mirboo North Primary School received a $500 prize, to support science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) resources or a sustainability project.
