Gippsland Water enhances safety and efficiency with 360-degree cameras
Gippsland Water has trialled 360-degree camera technology at sewer pump stations to improve the effectiveness of infrastructure inspections.
The use of the cameras enhances the safety of inspections, allowing a complete view inside wells without the need for inspectors to enter.
Acting managing director Simon Aquilina said safety is the number one priority.
“We care deeply about the safety of our people and any investment we can make to improve it is worthwhile,” Mr Aquilina said.
“This new approach allows workers to inspect wells with camera-assistance technology and significantly reduces the time spent in hazardous and confined environments.
“We can still maintain a high standard of inspection of our assets and support a safer operating environment for staff.
Around 40 sewer pump stations have trialled the technology across the Gippsland Water service area, capturing snapshots for assessments.
The technology provides a detailed view of asset condition, helping to inform maintenance decisions, planning and prioritisation of short and long-term remediation works.
